Daredevil Season 3 Review (Spoilerish)

By Corey "Salty Truth" Floyd

Season 3 is the long-awaited follow-up from The Fallout of the Defenders series which I am very glad to say will never come back. With Netflix's recent announcement of the cancellation of Iron Fist and Luke Cage I was very skeptic on how to feel about this upcoming season but luckily the first two seasons were absolutely excellent. Well, excellent in comparison to the one good season out of two from Iron Fist, and one-and-a-half good seasons out of Luke Cage. I do believe we have the Punisher coming up in about the next month and a half so, for now, I'm just going to touch on this season of Daredevil and hold judgment on Mr. Castle.

Let’s get to it!
Unlike Daredevil’s previous seasons, we're Foggy Karen and Matt were this great trio, they're quite scattered in this season. Foggy is working at his new law firm making big money, Karen has hit the ground running as a great reporter, and Matt is actually alleged to be dead. Karen still holds out hope as she still pays Matts and Foggy rent has tried to move on. If you waited till the last shot on the Defenders, you know that Matt Murdock is alive. He’s somewhat well at his church orphanage where he grew up. He’s currently suffering from his injuries of surviving an exploding building and now has complete loss of sight. I mean, he was blind before, but he could still see these weird strains of light, but now it seems that all he sees is darkness. His abilities have now evolved into a form of sonar, like another hero (cough Batman)

We also say hello again to the Kingpin played by The Unbelievable Vincent D'Onofrio who brings this odd socially awkward Crime Boss to the small screen. I say socially awkward because there are times that make me think his version of The Kingpin is on the spectrum of autism. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing it just adds a new layer to the character. We did see him in a few scenes in season two since he was in prison with Frank Castle. Now we return to Kingpin as the main focus. He has some new plans as he cuts deals with the FBI, takes down competition, and tries to get out of prison and bring his lovely girlfriend Vanessa, who hasn't been seen since season one, back home. The Kingpin is basically a snitch for the Feds, he gets his own security detail which includes Dex, played by young actor Wilson Bethel. Dex is Bullseye. They gave Bullseye a very interesting backstory, and you almost went to feel bad for him, but you don't.

There's a lot of psychology going on in this season. there's a lot of moments where Matt Murdock is literally having a mental conversation with The Kingpin or with his father. Kingpin uses this to get into the mind of Dex so he can mold him into the soldier he wants. It's damn good television.

A-
The next segment has Spoilers Ahead!!!
Fisk turns Dex into his own Daredevil. His personal hitman. As the Show reveal Dex was born a messed up parentless child. They aren't that Different Matt and Dex. The real difference I will let you figure out. It was one of the wildest three-way fights I've seen on television. It was awesome. It was amazing. And, it ended with Daredevil winning! Oh, and, Bullseye gets his back broken which happened in the comic book, so double points for Netflix! Triple points because one of the ending scenes had Bullseye on an operator's table being worked on by doctor Oyama. If you are a comic book head you know that dr. Oyama is the guy behind Wolverine's adamantium. Bullseye's new spine is coated with that real shit, son.
Now in the show, he could not call the material adamantium because the Disney-Fox deal won't be solidified until January 1st, 2019 so maybe after the reboot, it can be called adamantium, Maybe they will also be able to introduce mutants cause you can't do Oyama without mutants!! the future is very weird for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. There's already been an announcement that a Heroes for Hire TV show will be coming out on Hulu since Hulu biggest owner is  Disney. Who's to say that Disney just won't convince Netflix to pack everything up and walk away we've already taken half of it Thanos Style. To be perfectly honest I'm very pissed at the way they canceled Luke Cage. Days before the season 3 premiere of Daredevil and it on such a wild note now for that note to never continue is a personal travesty that I'm just going to have to deal with.  Who's to say it won't happen again with Daredevil or Punisher? Maybe its time for Marvel and Netflix to part ways before more feelings are hurt having good storytelling go to waste.

Amerime Cinema: Venom movie review

A few years ago sony pictures made a deal to lend Spider-Man to the MCU hence Spider-Man homecoming. But since then Sony has still been rather bitter or not, being able to make their own mark with their own cinematic universe so now they are trying to do something very new and very daring. They're going to try to make a Spider-Man less Spider-Man universe. I know that sounds weird but hear me out. They want to use other characters from the Spider-Man universe and build off of that and still be separate from the MCU. Now first I was just like okay maybe it's a joke too much coke perhaps.
Then they announced that their first movie was going to be Venom.
Clearly, I thought these guys really have lost their damn mind how are you going to do a Venom movie without Spider-Man I mean it's kind of the whole purpose of Venom existing if I'm perfectly honest. Then they went and cast Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Hardy is literally one of the most bankable and best actors of our time so I guess they had to be serious. I had to take it a little more seriously if they were able to get him on for the film. I saw the first trailer where it was marketed more like a horror movie and I was just like okay, then they actually showed Hardy turn into venom and I was like oh s*** this is awesome, but then they announced a few weeks before its release it's going to be PG-13 and then I was like meh. I did lose a little bit of interest when they announced the PG-13 rating because we're talking about a character that literally eats people to survive at times and I have a weird feeling that when the DVD Blu-ray is ready there's going to be a rated R version but it seems like Sony wants to play it safe just in case the movie fails and Kevin Feige  can swoop in and Save the Day.  But anyway Here's Venom
The Venom movie takes a lot of an adaptation from the Venom lethal predator comic book series. They play it very very loose but still at the same time faithful to the original material. Eddie Brock is a journalist in San Francisco with his fiance and he finds out that this company the life Foundation where they say they're working on rocket ships but Eddie already has his suspicions that they experiment on people and people died he tries to confront the head of the company and ends up getting castrated figuratively of course. Fired, his fiance leaves him and things are not looking good. But suddenly he gets a break and finds out there's a way to sneak into that lab and see what's going on. He did succeed at getting in but he ended up leaving out with a new friend the Symbiote who calls himself Venom. They were greeted by a great escape scene when he gets home. We're also greeted by some great new versions of dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes to the back-and-forth communication between Venom and Brock that we supposed to be funny but most of it is odd. Meanwhile, on the other side of the World, a symbiote by the name of Riot is trying to get back to space so he can bring more of his people back to take over the world.

It was all beautiful and shit even the heavy 3rd act CGI fight that if you pause it at the right moment makes a badass screensaver. Here's where things fall apart a lil bit. Most of the dialogue in this movie is trash and it's really off like it's supposed to be funny but it's not and it's weird because the director Ruben Fleisher is good with this material. He's the director behind Zombieland, Gangster Squad, 30 minutes or less, Superstore and even the Santa Clarita diet which is f****** hilarious or Netflix. He has been able to deliver action, horror, dark comedy and dry humor.
flawlessly. Let's look at the writers! Okay well, first we have Jeff Pinkner who was a writer and producer on the show Fringe and Alias both damn good shows. Then there's Scott Rosenberg who's most known as the writer for Con-Air and Gone in 60 Seconds it's bad when you're only known for Nicolas Cage movies. Then we have Kelly Marcel who's most known as the screenplay writer for 50 Shades of Grey well I see what's wrong here and I only have one thing to do.

No, luckily the action sequences in this movie save it and it really does. Tom Hardy Superstardom saves this movie as well I don't think it's going to be as big as a success as Sony wants it to be. The opening weekend alone was 80 million dollars which is great but the problem is they're still in the hole because the budget for the film is a 100 million dollars. So they still have quite the uphill battle when it goes over to China maybe things will turn out better in the long run Iris Lee I do believe it's going to make it make its money back but it is it is it going to be profitable enough for Sony to start green-lighting a sequel which they've already woven into the storyline? Since at the end of the movie Eddie Brock has an interview with Cletus Cassidy who's already hinting at Carnage.
I mean you could go to theaters and check this out if you want or you can wait for it to come out in DVD believe it or not it's not a failure but it's also not great either it's okay, it's good.

Iron Fist Season 2 Review

Season 2 of Iron Fist is the most anticipated garbage fire on Netflix since Deathnote. If you don’t know how I feel about the first season here's a link http://www.amerimewire.com/2017/03/iron-fist-more-like-tin-fist-tv-review.html Between that and the Defenders I have very little faith in the second season. But I guess when you're at rock bottom the only thing you can do is go up. To my surprise, it did that very well.
The season timeline starts sometime after the end of the latest season of  Luke Cage or as I call it Cage of Thrones. Rand is a vigilante in Chinatown at night... The Iron Fist stopping crimes where he can. He lives with his girlfriend, and former member of the hand, Colleen. For some shitty reason, Danny is trying to be super noble by not using any of his massive fortunes to get through his day-to-day. Instead, he does odd jobs around town.  If you can recall at the end of; last season Ward Meachum became more of a good guy and his sister has gone, straight villain. Ward is still a snarky asshole. Joy has also returned but she has distanced herself from everyone and made a new/old friend.
Davos returns with Joy, Needless to say, the plan is all sorts of crazy.
I'm trying my best to not spoil this one so I won’t go into any details because this season was done really well and it would be a disservice to spoil it. But I can say this we get more
Misty Knight and Colleen action.
The fight Choreography is actually pretty good this time around. I have an inside source who told me that Finn Jones was being taught fight scenes minutes before they would shoot in the first season and it showed in the final product. This time around time and effort was taken to make great scenes plus Finn Jones got in shape this time around. The story is entertaining and engaging, my only regret is that Claire is not in this season and
Rosario Dawson is BAE!!!!!

Overall I give the season a solid B combine that with last seasons F you get a C-. Now next month they are dropping Daredevil. I'm looking forward to it.
