Young Justice Season 3

Amerime Media
Young Justice season 3
By Corey FLoyd

Back in 2013 we had to say goodbye to hit TV show Young Justice.  But why? It was a top watched show on the network. Believe it or not what killed the show was toys. A toy company was paying for the show to help push their toys. Ironically the toy line sucked mainly because there was a higher demand for the female characters and the company  didn’t want to supply. So going into Season 2 Greg Weisman and staff knew that this was the last season. So they gave it their all and gave us a great season finale with a amazing reveal at the end making us want more. So we told them we want more by doing what we do best complain and spend money, but mainly spend money. Season 1&2 of Young Justice were very hot DVD buys. Netflix added the show to its streaming service and viewership was and still is fantastic. So after the fans let their voices be heard Young Justice is coming back.

After seeking out Greg Weisman on twitter  we  found out a few things. They are in pre-pre production and you won’t see a trailer the closer to the end of next year. We have waited so long I guess we can wait a little longer. The animation will stay the same . There have been some major concerns about the animation design. Last thing we need is a animation shift like “Teen Titans” to “Teen Titans GO!!.”  It has also been revealed that it will not air on Cartoon Network. “Young Justice will not air on Cartoon network it will be on a different channel.” Says Weisman via Twitter. They have not released where it will air but my theory is Netflix. It won’t air on Cartoon Network it doesn’t fit into Nickelodeon’s programming and Netflix has been a big supporter of DC as well as Marvel and since Netflix help the surge proving this show was axed too soon they best way to pay them back is to have season three a netflix exclusive.Weisman Appreciates all the fan support and know he ask only one thing from the fans Stop pitching episodes. He has been very verbal on this front because people despite their good intentions pitching an episode idea through a tweet actually hinders the creative process cause now they can’t use it even if it was a good idea. I say they have already been doing a good job let’s just sit back and let Young Justice be great again.

Marco Cancelled!

MARCO CANCELED!!
By Corey Floyd

Sad to say that of all the Netflix original shows Marco Polo is the first one to be canceled. Yes, folks, out of the forty plus original shows this one failed first. Season one immersed us in a new world and the ratings reflected it. There was conflict, betrayal, and violence. It was being compared to HBO’s Game of Thrones but obviously based more in reality with splashes of history dabbled in it. The Weinstein company who produced the show reported a 200 hundred million dollar loss. Harvey Weinstein was quoted saying

“Netflix has been incredible to give us the room to make a series with a cast true to every principle of diversity. It’s a bold network that allows you to do that and support us in the way that Netflix did. As many people know, Asian history and the world of martial arts have fascinated me for all of my careers — I’ve made many movies around these topics and this genre, and now this TV show I’m so proud of. John has been a great partner and we’re both fascinated to continue exploring this exciting period in history on future projects together.”

Now this is their first failure in the original series department. Some programs had a short lifespan Hemlock Grove only had three seasons I didn't have a chance to get stale so it came and went. Marco Polo won’t be the last show either 70s-80s hip hop drama “The Run Down” is missing a lot of views and they hope that the release of the rest of the second season will save it  The gritty teen drama “Between”  has two seasons done and are waiting to hear if they get a third both shows are great I suggest you check them out.

The Award Goes To… Deadpool?!

The Award Goes To… Deadpool?!

by Corey Floyd

Deadpool.jpg

It’s that special time of year in Hollywood where they announce the nominees for

the Golden Globes. This is the playoffs in Hollywood and the winners here mostly go on to

the Academy Awards. So surprise surprise when I heard Deadpool was up for best picture

in a comedy or musical and Ryan Reynolds has been nominated for best actor in a comedy

or musical. This is a very big deal. In my opinion this has definitely shaken up the comic

book movie bubble.

This the first big nomination for a comic book movie that is not about visual effects. I don’t

count Heath Ledger Oscar for the Joker cause they already announced he was gonna get it

before the show because he died. For years comic book movies have only been shoe in for

visual effects but now a movie has passed that threshold and has been nominated for best

picture and on top of that the lead is up for best actor. This is also a huge deal for 20th

Century Fox who has been on the losing side of the Marvel war with shaky story lines and

and average movie earnings from the last few X-Men films and the disaster of a Reboot for

the Fantastic Four. Which bring me to another point this nomination should be a big

wakeup call to Fox movie executives to not meddle with the creative process of these films.

During production of Deadpool there were constant stories floating around about

executives trying to add their two cents to the creative process. Usually causing disarray

confusion and ending in a terrible film Fantastic 4 for example. The Director Tim Miller,

writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and Reynold stood their ground. Ironically that

probably what lead them to just a 58 million dollar budget but when life give you lemons

you make 783 million dollar profit. This Tim Miller first big nomination from his first full

length feature film. He is most commonly know in the gaming community for directing

cutscenes for games like Mass Effect and a few short animated films. He went from the

minor to the big leagues fast and knocked it out of the park. Hopefully this nomination can

bring him and Reynolds back on the same page since he’s not directing Deadpool 2 due to

some unknown issue between him and Reynolds Maybe he can reconcile knowing that

they made history again. But that’s Hopeful thinking.

This is a Huge win just being nominated for Reynolds who has been working on this

film for years in development hell. The funny part about his performance in the movie is if

you have ever seen a comedy with Reynolds in it you see that nothing much has changed

since 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place. Seriously look at all of his comedic roles up to

Deadpool and you will agree. The only difference is how much money it made. But Kudos

all the same Reynolds. His category does have some heavy hitters he’s going against Jonah

Hill, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant and Ryan Gosling. Im cheering for the Merc with the Mouth. I

he does win I would love to see him accept his award like this.

My two Gils on Final Fantasy

Never have I been more excited about a Square Enix games since Final Fantasy X.  With their latest installment XV it’s like a breath of much needed fresh air into their franchise.  When you start the game the opening words reads for fans and first time gamers alike. Which makes the game friendly to folks new to the franchise, and old heads like me. Again I haven’t played Final Fantasy so passionately since X and I got to say it’s like riding a bicycle.

My brief history with the game…

My first Final Fantasy game was surprisingly not the one everyone seems to remember or even care about.  I was too young to understand the 16-bit game. VII AND VIII were amazing for their times, but I just had no interest at all for them.  It  wasn’t until IX  that I fully engaged in a Final Fantasy story. Being a rouge inside of a game was the best time I had playing an JRPG in ever. X was the first to have mostly speaking voice lines so I had to play that. Honestly the rest afterwards just didn’t seem worth playing.

First things I noticed about FFXV…

XV changes the rules a bit, but it still has that FF feel. They seem to really want to  appeal to their western fans because XV is basically Final Fantasy in America. The first thing I really noticed was that I was driving on the right side of the road, and the steering wheel was on the left. The new yet familiar look of an American landscapes when driving throughout the world all feels like the developers said. “America will be a great base for our games.” and so far its paying off.

Characterization...

Playing with these characters feels genuine. It’s almost like you’ve known these guys for years. Their personalities are a bit on the anime side, but everyone still feels like their own person. Prompto is the classic goof-ball and the weakest character as far as HP (HIT POINTS) but he surely makes it up in a fight. His support weapons make short work of the enemy, and they do it fast. Ignis is my personal favorite because of his style and cooking skill. He comes off like some kind of butler or mother figure, yet he makes sure our characters are always well feed and battle ready when the time is needed. Gladiolus is the brute of the crew, but he’s no idiot, This giant of a man is loyal to his friends  and will always protect them no matter what. He decided to be Noctus shield long ago and he wants Noctus to be as decisive. Noctus is our main character. He’s the typical emotional kid who doesn’t want to accept his responsibilities. Throughout his journey, as he grows, he comes to accept his fate and becomes the man he’s meant to be.

Overall I’m thrilled to play this game.  Unlike most people who rushed the story, I will be taking my sweet ass time.  I am going to enjoy every aspect of this game to it’s fullest.  Final Fantasy XV will have you deeply engaged. In this long and winding adventure you can easily forget that there is an actual world outside your house. As you are reading this I am probably still playing this game... that’s how good it is. So in all honesty it is, hands down, the best game of 2016

Game of Thrones premiere

Game of Thrones season six premiere started off like no one expected... Slow. Yes I said it, and I'm not ashamed, episode one honestly was a soft refresher of what happened last season, few interesting developments did happen which I will go into later, yet over all we knew most of the things that was going to happen.

First let's start with Jamie coming home with his dead daughter and Cerce’s obvious reaction. Arya little blind girl on the streets of Bravos now being trained without her vision. They showed us Tyrion walking the streets finding the problems of Mareen from the ground level. No pun intended. Ramsey, oh you bastard, Ramsey, he feeds his dead girlfriend to the dogs. Daenerys is with the Dothraki people about to be shipped to a widow's mansion. Lastly, Sir Davos is keeping Jon's body safe and he should expect help from wildlings.

The following are the things we had no idea was going to happen. It was shocking, but not important to the main story. Brianne saves Sansa and Reek, the King of Dorn and his son were violently murdered. No one can't seem to stop taking about Melisandre and her old-young looking ass. Yea, I meant to say it like that.

If I skipped some things that’s because, again it wasn't important, and it did nothing to progress the story. If anything we hope the second episode will prove to be the more revealing. My best guess is that the wildlings will show up at Castle Black and kick the door in. We will see Bron at some point and I hope this is the moment.

DC Continuity Issues

So with Batman v Superman out of the way and Civil War coming up, people can't help but compare and wonder why is DC so late trying to catch up? What if I told you this is nothing different then what happened before?

In the late 80's early 90's, Tim Burton's Batman was the best comic book of all time and what did DC do to capitalize? They made cartoons! Batman the animated series is still to this day considered one of the best cartoons ever and for good reason, it simply rocks. Marvel witnessed the success of Batman and started cranking out cartoon show after show with such titles as Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk, X-Men, and Spider- Man.

Starting to sound familiar?

Marvel wasn’t satisfied with just raining down shows on the happy geeky masses, it decided to bounce around characters from show to show; Spider- Man started to appear on X-Men, and vice versa. Now it was time for DC to catch up, and catch up they did. They came out with Superman, Batman beyond, and the Justice League amongst others. In my opinion, for that time, DC did it better. Unlike Marvel they used a single character as the driving point to bring the various groups together. It worked out beautifully for those shows because they were in one shared universe. From Batman to Justice League with all other tie in shows they gave us one giant story. Marvel at the time was nowhere near this complexed, again characters had some brief appearance but that was it.

Let's jump to 2005, Marvel learning from their cartoon mistakes and the tragedy of signing away rights to certain characters decides to do what DC did, but do it with movies. We all know the story from here, Marvel creates a movie universe, make billions of dollars, branch off TV shows, and create a giant movie universe. DC's problem now is far more than catching up, but trying to keep up. First the Dark Knight movies are another universe. Man of Steel wasn't a good starting ground, it's separate from its TV shows, and I feel as if they're cramming in everything they possibly can into the next movies.

Batman v Superman wasn't the bad movie that everyone claims it to be. Did the movie have problems? Yes, but it was what we the people wanted. DC playing keep up is nothing new to us.  It’s just that now it's on a silver screen scale. Will it be as good as Marvels? No, because Marvel wears the crown. They had this plan years ago and they are a unit. What DC fans have to realize is that they need to give DC
enough time. DC will eventually be back on top with hopefully a good one character base story that they can build to a solid group film. If not, they can just make another Batman can't go wrong with that.

My review on Batman Bad Blood

Fresh into the new year DC Comics has given us the third installment of Batman’s animated movie, “Bad Blood.”  It contains the story of Batman and the family since the first movie “Son of Batman” and follows a few months after the events of the previous movie, “Batman Vs Robin.” The last couple of movies has not been about Batman. Instead, it focuses on the supporting cast, and charges them with the ominous task of carrying a movie without their main star, and the question is, can they?

This movie is not shy on the action.  From beginning to end it throws fights at you left and right.  It can feel a bit dizzying at times with all the various fight scenes, but after a while, it settles to the point where you can still know what’s happening.  The more I watch these movies, the less Batman it becomes.  Sure he’s there, but he doesn't do much.  Cassie Kane, Dick Grayson, Damien Wayne, and newcomer Luke Fox is the meat and potatoes of the movie.

Obviously, as in any team based movie, they can’t seem to work together at first.  With some well-done trust exercises, they get their act together and step up to handle their job.  There are moments of character and origin building throughout to introduce lesser known characters without feeling forced.  Except the villains, there was no explanation of who they were. Only true fans and comic nerds would know who they are, and even then it doesn't matter.  In the end, it’s worth the watch.  Granted that you will have to watch “Batman Vs Robin” to explain Damien's appearance in the far east.  Other than that it’s a good look into the bat family as a whole.  Watching them earn their ranks and the respect of Batman is definitely a movie that bat fan have to watch, and in the end, it sets up good for the next movie down the line.

Thoughts on DC Legends Of Tomorrow

Review written by Antoine Johnson aka Tony Newport
writer and artist for Amerime Media 1/22/16

What can I say? as a fan of both shows Arrow and The Flash I can say that this is one of DC's ballsiest  shows to date. I'm completely caught up into the lore of these characters, their origins, their struggles, and the things they had to do to get to where they are. I wonder if the many people who have stopped watching or never seen DC's Arrow will The Legends Of Tomorrow be a show that they can get into and not feel lost and confused?

The CW thought they were clever by scheduling a recap episode of the characters to draw you into the show without prior shows knowledge and expect you to care instantly for them and be excited. I remind you that they have been advertised for over a year now and yet the question still remains, do people even care? I say they should be because how many times do people really need an origin story shoved in every show we get? Not many! Hell, the show Gotham is nothing but Bruce's origin in real time.

Legends of Tomorrow may have a lot going for it in the respects that, as a solo show, it can stand on its own.You may disagree, but hear me out, I've watched every episode of Arrow since its debut and followed reactions of most people who had mixed feelings about the show with every season that goes by. What got people interested again was the introduction of the Flash. Now the Flash is a show that stands alone on its own because he's a well-known character that everyone knows and the main focus of the show is him being the only hero. With Legends, on the other hand, contains some of the best side characters finally getting their chance to shine. Do I care to see this... yes I do! Do you care to see this? maybe after the little explanation of the pilot I'm pretty sure you'll want to get to know these characters more.

Even though the pilot does little to explain the characters because they assume you should know them by now, it  goes a long way to explain the plot. The show creators thought that the only character we really need to know is Rip Hunter because he's the driving focus that brings the new team together. As far as the team, we learn their differences and their respective reasons for joining (well done Greg Berlanti and friends.) The chemistry between most of the characters makes you believe that they know each other and it's nothing new to them even though it is. Even if you're someone who's new to the series, this blogger believes that you should give it a try. It's a hero/villain team unlike anything we've seen so far, and I find it interesting and I think you will too.

Is Saitama the One Punch Man the strongest character ever made?

Everyone knows by now who Saitama is, The One Punch Man. The one thing everyone wants to know is, I'd the strongest character ever created? Now, in my opinion, I can honestly say no, and here why. Strength and Power are two separate things all together. I've thought a lot about this and came up with the conclusion that Saitama is strong, but he's not powerful.

Again let me explain. If you watch throughout the series, you notice bits of limits he stated or shown he couldn't do. So far he can't fly, yet can fall a great distance without injury, He's speed is not fully measured, he can't breathe in space, and aliens seem to be the only creatures to give him a challenge. Giving those facts we see how would he compare to other characters from well-known comics and anime to see where he stands. First Goku, can he beat him? My answer I see it as being a fair fight with Saitama on top, barely. He is strong I give him that but again his speed is not measured, and with Goku being alien I'm pretty sure he can take a couple of punches before losing his god mode energy and giving up. Saitama won't knock his head off; he's a good guy. Next is Superman, what can I say it's hard to judge this one. Many things can happen in a fight of this magnitude. Superman could take Saitama into space and suffocate him, or Saitama could pluck Superman unconscious before he reaches the outer atmosphere. I see them both getting into it. Superman had never found a person to go all out on and so has Saitama so far. In my option I give this fight to Saitama only because he doesn't care what people think of him... sometimes. He can fight as reckless as he wants and Superman will be to preoccupied with outside calls casualties.

Do I still think Saitama is the strongest character ever made? I still say no.

He may be weak to Psychics or magic. Maybe Marvels cosmic characters can snap him out of reality. Too little is known about Saitama to judge his true strengths and potential until we get more info on the true source of his power; all these questions will go unanswered. What do you think? Is Saitama the strongest character ever created?
