Iron Fist is NOT appropriation!!!

A Closer Look With
Corey SaltyTruth Floyd

The last piece of The Defenders team Iron fist will be coming out this month on Netflix. It's about a young man being bestowed with martial arts skills and and a magical technique called the Iron Fist. The character is being played by Finn Jones most remember him as Loras Tyrell from Game of Thrones and now he’s covered in Marvel Magic. But as we lead up to the shows release I keep seeing the following trend online “Why isn’t he chinese? I thought he would be asian! This is Appropriation man!” Now at first glance I can see where they are coming from, but it's a good thing I know a thing or two about Iron Fist. He was created in 1974 a few years after Luke Cage. As a child he was blessed with amazing powers and Learned Kung Fu. Now I get what you’re thinking “I don’t see why he can’t be Asian” right? Well that's where his antagonists come in. Most of his enemies  are actually out to get them because he has the great power and he's not even Asian. So, even in the comics they are trying to kill him just for being white and being given special abilities plus a whole lot of other reasons that I don’t want to get into. I want you guys to see for yourself. I had to write on this because I think people are not being informed when it come to comic book characters and they say things like he is supposed to be asian. Sidenote!! Scarlett Johansson is not whitewashing “The Major” in the upcoming Ghost In the Shell film. Why? Because the Character has no identity no actual name to associate her with anyone so she can be either white, black, asian, etc and it doesn't matter or mess with the narrative. To wrap up, I hope everyone learned a little something today we need to do a little research before we play the race card. Because if you wanna call appropriation watch GODS OF EGYPT. Peace

Santa Clarita Diet? More Please

(Season 1 review. No Spoilers here!)
 By Corey Floyd

Netflix dropped a little hint about what this show was about and I was thinking... Suburban Mom is a down low Zombie? Okay, I'll bite. (No Pun Intended) Drew Barrymore stars as Sheila Hammond a busy mom on the go that suddenly has the desire to dine on human flesh. It’s a solid supporting cast with Timothy Olyphant as her surprisingly supportive husband and a spunky daughter who thinks it’s all cool. It's a very quirky show with very dark themes in it. At times, I find myself listening out for a laugh track. The acting is slightly off. I’m not sure if that is intentional or not, because it works.  Also, whenever there is a gory moment they flip it into a funny gory moment which is executed very well. It’s a pretty fun show to watch. I really hope they get a second season. You guys should check it out. Because to be honest If I say any more I will give away the story.
