Okay, we all get really hype when we see a new Trailer for a movie right? Of course, we do. When something we have only been hearing about and seeing set photos of finally reveals itself in a trailer, you are ready to give them your money. Then over the next few months, they put out more trailers and everything is cool. Until they start giving away too much in the trailer and it just leaves me pissed off. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone here. Today I am going to talk about some of these offenders...
A few weeks ago, we were graced with an action-packed trailer to Kingsman: The Secret Circle. We see the Return of Eggsy and Roxy and Merlin. We see that their base has been destroyed. We also meet the US version of the team with Channing Tatum and Halle Berry as well as an intense chase scene and a dude with a Bionic arm.
Just take my money!! We are in there September 22nd. Last five seconds of trailer ruined the suspense. I will still see it but now I’m not as excited.
Our next offender Transformers: The Last Knight. I know a LOT of you already have grievances with this series. But I’m not gonna get into that, at least not today. In the first trailer, we are blessed with a monologue by Anthony Hopkins hinting that this war has been going for a long time. We are shown scenes of WW1 as well as Knight of the round table. We also see Mark Wahlberg doing whatever hell he does (probably working out) and we see that Josh Duhamel has returned to the fold with some military buddies. One of the final scenes of the trailer is Optimus Prime apologizing and attacking Bumblebee the photo up top is the last thing you see. I was sold do i expect a great story not really but you had me in suspense.
The next trailer revealed that he missed.
Why must you Hollywood people mess up? You had people especially kids on the edge of their seats. Then today they put out a new trailer. Where they did it again!!! Look for yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD5IJvKcbEQ . I’m so frustrated because there are some studios out there that know what they are doing when it comes to making a good trailer without giving away good parts. MARVEL STUDIOS is a great example. I cannot recall a film where they give everything away in the trailer from Marvel. If you can hit that comment section. Somewhere in Hollywood there are people with no idea how to make a proper trailer that makes you want to see a movie that doesn’t give away a plot twist (Terminator Salvation). Or mislead the hell out of you (Suicide Squad). Even JJ Abrams knows how to do a proper movie trailer (even if Star Wars 7 was just episode 4 all over again). What happen to being a little mysterious like Paranormal Activity. Don’t do a misleading trailer like Godzilla when you have Cloverfield. Don’t make a trailer look like a comedy when it’s actually a drama. Studios stop being scared and showing everything in a trailer (Amazing Spiderman 2, Lucy) to the point that seeing the actual movie is a chore. You must find balance. That’s it for me today I will leave you with a clue about my next movie review, it also happens to be a great example of a movie trailer too.
