We Take a Look at Slime-san Superslime Edition By Luiggi Cavanna

This past weekend I took a look a Slime-san Superslime Edition on stream. Slime-san is quite a  charming action platformer with amazing music and an old school look to it.  This is a supplementary review, if you want to see my first impressions of the game right after I was done playing it, go check the video down below.

The version I played was the Superslime edition for the PS4, which included all the content release the past year with some new extra content add it to the mix. In the game, you play as a slime that was swallowed by a giant monstrous snake creature and now you have to survive the digestive system of said creature. The game is divided into levels and these levels are divided into small quick stages, where you have to go from point A to point B in a set amount of time before gastric juices fill the screen, while grabbing some collectibles on the way.

I gotta say, the first levels weren’t that challenging and most of the difficulty came from me trying to collect all the damn apples (the collectibles I was talking about) of each level. The difficulty escalated fairly quickly after a while though and with it, the fun. Slime-san not only has to deal with obstacles that the levels present by just jumping, but you also have to use your slime powers to go a little transparent so that you can go through certain objects. You can also dash, break blocks and stick to walls.

The Superslime edition is packed with a lot of content, and if you like games of this type (you know, like Super Meat Boy), this game will keep you busy for a long time. The bite-sized levels are fun but personally, they would be better on the go. Fortunately, you can find Slime-san on the switch as well.

The music in the game is great and tremendously charming, as charming as the graphics. Slime-san decides to go for the retro type of look, and in my opinion, it works for this type of game. Slime-san presents you with hours of hair pulling platforming fun, but no more than that. When it comes to me, I would play this type of game for a bit before moving to something else, that’s why it works so well on the go for me. So if you are looking for a simple, but challenging platformer to pass the time, this game might be for you.

Have you played Slime-san? What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know. Now I return to the deepest darkest corners of my dwelling. Good-bye, for now, my friends.

Luke Cage Season 2 (spoilerish) By Corey Floyd

Making Harlem great again. Yes, that's how I'm starting this one. Luke Cage returns with season 2 and I was not disappointed. We were already graced with the second season of Jessica Jones back in March ( review here http://www.amerimewire.com/2018/03/jessica-jones-season-2-review-by-corey.html ) and now we're back in Harlem with everyone favorite unbreakable hero. Everyone has returned to play the character, of course, Mike Colter as Luke, Simone Missick as Misty Knight,, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah and last but not least Rosario Dawson as Claire. (I'm still weirded out that she was that mom in the beginning of CIVIL WAR)

We catch up with Luke being loved and admired by Harlem since unlike the rest of the defender's everyone knows who he is. But famous and being rich and not one in the same since he stays in Claire's apartment and the barbershop can’t afford the rent. C.R.E.A.M. is name of the game and Luke needs it. A young street Hustler named D.W. is selling Luke Cage Merchandise out of the shop and follows him wherever he goes to videotape him doing good deeds. It gets to a point that he’s offered a sponsorship deal.
One the other side Shades and Mariah want to become Wolfs of wall street with some insider trading blackmail all while trying to sell off their guns to become legit. Just when you thought everything was fine here comes the Bushmaster. A Jamaican with a serious taste for revenge and some serious powers to go with it. With his mystical powers, he can go toe to toe with the champ and walk away like nothing happened.

He's played by Mustafa Shakir who played Big Mike HBO’s The Deuce he gives a masterful performance as well as the stylish gangster. He comes to Harlem to take out Mariah for the sins of her family's past that cost him more than just money sounds familiar doesn't it

As the story unfolds you realize that his grievances are legit so I kinda root him but I don't agree with some of his tactics.

This season family plays a pivotal role just like last time. We are introduced to Luke's dad James Lucas played by the late great Reg E. Cathey. Luke has a lot of rage towards his father after blaming him for his mother's cancer. Let's not forget that he cheated on her with another woman and that's how we got Diamondbacks corny ass. On the other side, we are introduced to Mariah’s daughter Tilda who has been gone from her life forever, But Mariah needs to reunite with her to gain footing that she lost in the community. She's walking a very gray area even Shades has concerns.

Claire does not have a lot of screen time this season they had a fight and Luke's Toxic Masculinity got in the way and she went after the first few episodes. The female focus is more on Misty Knight the one-armed detective trying to get her groove back as well as her confidence. With help from Colleen Wing and a new arm from Rand industries, she was back to work trying to stop Harlem for bleeding to death.

This Season gets very Game of Throne like in a lot of aspects. The fight for the ruler of Harlem, the factions, the unions, the incest "oooppppsss."  Well, I won’t go into details about that but it gets very bloody and very dark might wanna shield the kid's eyes at some parts. Music is still very alive and vibrant in the season from reggae to KRS ONE and of course at least one member of the Wu-Tang Clan. I won't say who it is but its a killer. They even threw in an episode with Iron Fist giving us the Hero for Hire vibe. Finn Jones looks like he actually put on some weight and learned his choreography this time around he looked good. I won’t tell you what happens or how it ends but it's great. You can’t break Luke Cage but can he be bent?

We Take a Look at Epic Loon

This past weekend I managed to stream an indie game named Epic Loon, by Macrales Studios and Ukuza Games a fun little platformer that will ruin friendships. This is a supplementary review, if you want to see my first impressions of the game right after I was done playing it, go check the video down below.

Epic Loon is a quite difficult physics platformer where you play as an alien blob that has possessed a VHS belonging to a movie aficionado named Joe. Your sole purpose in life is to ruin Joe’s favorite movies. Clearly, Joe is not to keen on that, and he will do everything in his power to dispose of you and your alien comrades. I have to say, I really loved the visual of the game, and the little live action intro video, it really put me in the mood of the game. The whole “VHS player” setting lends itself to interesting challenges. Joe will fast forward or rewind the tape in order to make your life miserable.

The gameplay is fairly simple, move and jump in your regular alien form, stick to surfaces and fling yourself to other platforms in your goop form. Simple as it might be, the game difficulty ramps up pretty quickly. There is two modes, Story mode and VS mode. I only managed to play the story mode but I gotta say, your alien friends will get in your way and ruin your life. I played Epic Loon by myself and with a bunch of NPC’s because I had nobody to play with, but still, the suckers proved to be just as annoying as any of my friends. I believe that multiplayer is the best part of the game. This game feels specifically designed to play with multiple people, you know, a fun party game that will make you want to strangle your friends. That’s where the replayability of the game lies, after all, there’s not too many levels, four movies in total.

Each level is a parody of famous movies like “Jurassic Land” or “Noferacula”. Even though there are only four movies, they feel quite lengthy thanks to the difficulty. You gotta traverse through different iconic scenes, reaching the portal that will take you to the next one before your friends. I do have some gripes with the game though, I found myself stuck in some parts of the game and it definitely didn’t feel like it was my fault. I couldn’t finish the Alien themed movie just because I found myself out of the level somehow and the AI was too stupid to beat it in order to progress. Even before that, there was a level where I needed to use some alien eggs to travel across the map but due to the nature of the physics of the game, the things bugged off the map making the level ten times more difficult! Also for the life of me, I couldn’t find a way to lower the volume of the game. I had options to turn the voices, sound effects and music off but I couldn’t lower it. These are small complaints that can easily be fixed with future patches though.

My time with Epic Loon was a blast! I intended to stream the game for an hour but I end up streaming for two hours and some change thanks to the salt coursing through my body! You do get some rewards for completing each movie, a costume for your little alien, and I wasn’t going to leave without unlocking that stupid yellow raincoat from Jurassic Land! All and all if you like difficult physic platforming games or if you want to start a fight with your friends, this game might be for you.

Have you played Epic Loon?  What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know. Thank you to Macrales Studios and Ukuza Games for allowing us to play the game. Now I return to the deepest darkest corners of my dwelling. Good-bye, for now, my friends. Before I leave follow me and check out all the games I stream Luiggi Cavanna

Top 5 Games I'm looking for at E3

A few weeks ago a list was "leaked" of all the games that are going to be shown at E3. Well, I don't know if its true or not but there are a few games that I'm super excited to see above all. We've seen some of the big boys jump the gun and hold a Pre E3 with Activision showing off the new Call of Duty, Bethesda showing Rage 2 and a trailer for Fallout 76 (one of my five), Ubisoft leaked the new Assassin Creed again this time we're going to Greece. And finally, Dice held a press conference to show off the new Battlefield with women on the cover and gamers are losing their mind but more on that at a later time. But, here are my Top Five Game I'm looking forward to.

1. Fallout Vault 76: Another thing gamers are losing their minds over trying to decipher every little thing about the trailer. Yes, Besthda gave away some hints it will be the earliest fallout we have played only 25 years after the bombs fell. And, it will be set in Virginia. Mostly everything else is set to speculations Will it be an MMO? hopefully not Will it have some form of online gameplay? Hopefully yes. Will they expand on the building settlement from Fallout 4 most likely It's been said that Bethesda used Fallout 4 settlement building as an experiment for they further Fallout titles? Here are some things I want from Fallout 76. I want online gameplay in the form of co-op gameplay and settlement building. I want to play with my friends visit the world their building to see their towns. Help them on missions and share the loot take it back to my game. As far as the building/settlement system I want everything Bethesda has and make everything snappable Fallout 4 was so frustrating nothing snapped, walls hung in the air. It sucked even more because I play on PS4 so all the mods that fixed the issues Sony wouldn't allow. One more thing allows me to build anywhere I want some of the settlements were worthless as far as building there unless you used mods. Hopefully, Bethesda gets it done or at least really close

2. The Walking Dead: Tale Tell had a great run with the Clementine stories but I can't wait to play this version by Overkill Studio with Skybound which is Robert Kirkland company. (The creator of the Walking Dead.) So far we've only seen the three trailers. I'm curious what path are they going to take it down. Will it be community building like State of decay 2 or will it be a story-driven adventure game like Days Gone another one I'm going broke over? But, so far all the trailers showed was 3 individuals at their point in the world after it's gone to shit I'm looking forward to some gameplay and maybe some cameos.

3. Dragon Age: This is one of my favorite games I had to stop playing inquisition to write this. It was hard and I've bee feening for a new one since. I don't know anything just rumors but it was on the so-called leaked list but since there is no gameplay and or trailer I, we won't see it for a while.

4. Death Stranding: I love Hideo Kojima but Death Stranding is him off the leash and I'm afraid and excited at the same time. Can anyone tell me what this game is about is it a horror game? Is it an adventure game? What is the actual story? Someone, please tell me something Kojima just teases us year after year I just want to see some gameplay. And this is the year I hope either way I'm playing it

5. Shenmue 3: It's been 17 years 17 long years for the first sandbox game this is what it means to be a fan. Kingdom Hearts fans know what I'm talking about. Another game set to release this year. 3 years ago they announced that they will be bringing back one of the best games ever made but it was up to the fans to get it made. And it was posted to Kickstarter for the world to take part of. and I was one of them this game was funded within the 10 hours posted not only that it exceeded that need by 4 million. With that, you'd think we would have a fleshed out game by now but they pushed it back from last year to next year. They're are supposed to be at E3 this year to show off some finished gameplay and I'm here for it. At least you can buy Shenmue one and two for the Xbox One and PS4 hold us over until it hits consoles next year.

Those are my top 5 what are yours? Comment below and share this with your friends. E3 is only 5 days away a lot of questions will be answered some will just leave us with more questions, either way, I will be front and center for it all.

We Take a Look at The Maestros By Luiggi Cavanna

This past weekend I managed to jump into the closed beta for “The Maestros”, a fast-paced MOBA / RTS hybrid, and here are my thoughts about the game. This is a supplementary review, if you want to see my first impressions of the game right after I was done playing it, go check the video down below.

The Maestros is a very interesting combination of RTS and MOBA, you can see in the gameplay that the developers wanted to go with a fast pace RTS type of the game, and fast pace it is!
If you ever felt like you couldn’t commit to any of the popular MOBA games out there because you didn’t have the time or a group of friends that you can team up with this might be your game. The normal Maestro game boils down to elimination matches. There are objectives in the map that can score your team a victory, but if you kill all enemy generals you win the round. Victory goes to the team that wins the most rounds.

In the map, you can find bosses that if you defeat they will join your team giving you a powerful unit and it will lose health gradually in order to balance this unit out. The pace of a match reminds me of an FPS, where you randomly pick up guns and other weapons in specific places in the map. Akin to that, in The Maestros, you can only upgrade your units in specific places that will give you a specific type of upgraded unit. Also, you obtain your units by killing NPCs in specific sections in the map.

In the beta, we had a small selection of heroes. You start with the one you play in the tutorial and gradually you unlock more heroes as you rank up. Each hero has a special skill that it can use and makes the hero unique. The rest of the skills are connected to your units and are the same for all heroes. Something to mention is that the skills related to your units have a number, that number is connected to the number of units that you have and it is the number of times you can use that skill before it goes on cooldown.

I do have some gripes with the game, most of them did not affect the gameplay, and the ones that did will probably be fixed before release. I did encounter some collision issues with my units, some of my little soldiers got stuck in some trees. I had a little problem with some specials when they missed, I’m talking about the one from the starting hero. When my rocket of death and destruction missed I would’ve expected for it to land close by and at least hurt some units or something. Instead, it went on flying across the map leaving me very annoyed. That’s a small gripe of mine and if just a question of adjusting so no big deal. Another thing that was annoying was the fact I had to continuously click on the ground to move. I would’ve loved to just hold down the mouse button instead of spending the entire match going “CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, CLICK”.
In regard to character design, it’s your traditional affair when it comes to games of this genre, and that goes for the art style of the game in general. None of the characters stick out as special in any way, but I hope they add more distinct characters in the future.
Also, I like that every character has access to the same type of units but, I would’ve loved for the units to be different cosmetically at least, but again, that doesn’t affect gameplay and it’s just my opinion.

My time with The Maestros was a blast! Personally, I’m not a MOBA type of guy but the RTS player side of me enjoyed every single minute of it. Again this game is currently in closed beta and many things can change, so let’s hope that the game only improves moving forward.

Did you manage to join the closed beta weekend of The Maestros? What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know. Now I return to the deepest darkest corners of my dwelling. Good-bye, for now, my friends.
