Hellboy Reboot REALLY!!

By Corey Floyd
Just about three months ago Lionsgate made it very clear that there would not be a third installment to the much loved Hellboy franchise with Ron Perlman as a demon with a big red hand. The two original movies total gross 262 million but their combined budget were around 145 million. The profit margin isn't what the studio status quo for comic book movies should be making, but over the years the fanbase for it grew. Even had some very good animated DVD films starring the same cast from the film.
The reason I am writing this is because I feel like there was a great deal of disrespect given to Perlman and Del toro. I think Del Toro is a very special breed when it comes to directing visual wonders. It could be a complex story like Pan's’ Labyrinth or simple robot vs Kaiju fight like Pacific Rim he does it seamlessly. Oh well, let’s say hello to our new Hellboy.
Meet David Harbour look familiar? He’s on the 80’s nostalgia hit Stranger Things as Sheriff Hopper. Well get ready for him to look a lot like this
Here’s where things get interesting. The director is Neil Marshall. Neil Marshall has had a lackluster run at the box office. He was the director behind flops such as Doomsday, Centurion, and Dog Soldiers. His only box office success was The Descent and since it had a Budget of only 3.5 million I guess the only place you can go is up. He was missing from the scene from 2010-2014. He started to reappear but directing Television episodes of some very popular series Game of Thrones, Constantine, and Westworld. I guess they think he is ready to do a film again. I think he should stay in his TV lane. Oh, and the writers does not give me overall confidence.  Now the shining light of the Team is Mike Mignola the creator of Hellboy so that’s good, but here’s where things get suspicious. Andrew Cosby has only written for a few shows on the SciFi channel Eureka and Haunted which were okay shows not great. Christopher Golden has written for several unsuccessful Buffy the Vampire video games (I remember them so awful). The only redeeming quality is two of the producers worked on Del Toros Version. Recently they have called the movie Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and they have made it very clear that it will be rated R.

I feel like they are insulting Del Toro again as If he doesn’t do rated R. The studio made him reshoot several scenes and tone down the violence because the original cut was rated R.
Have they seen Blade 1 & 2? It's the type of thing that could work in a TV reboot.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about go here http://amerimemedia.blogspot.com/2017/04/who-needs-reboot-part-2.html?view=flipcard . I’m just saying that things don’t look too good right now for HB. All i can say now is I’m sorry to Guillermo and Ron this is on us this time, we didn’t know how good we had it.
